The pits

Just spoke to my supervisor on Wednesday. Seems the problem will not be solved that easily. The fact that he asked me to consider using my second project (which initially he wasnt very enthu on) to replace my first explains we might be at our wits end. How can this happen after all the research, the write-up and the preparations. Everything ordered has arrived, im staying put in Perth purposely during this chrissy season to do the project and now this has to happen. A sense of absolute frustration sets in. Come on, 6 months wasted?! On the verge of anger/despair. Ok, thats my 5mins of self-pity. Basically think things can only get better after this. This is the pit of pits in this project - i really dont know what to do. Options are in front of me- but none seems good for the taking. Maybe going back to NUS to complete it would be better - reduced accomodation costs, i can go back to private tuition, church, friends, family and independence to do as i will. Life will be back to as before. Maybe that is best for everyone involved. For sure - i will never give up. I am going to get through my thesis by hook or by crook, this project will be completed. One fracas after another is over. Now there is like a battle between the Australian youths and the Middle Eastern youths in Sydney's Crunella beach. Sms was used as a communication tool to amass the groups for a showdown at the beach. Cars and property of the residents in the nearby area have been destroyed w/o reason. Reports attribute the seemingly racial outbursts to excessive alcohol and lack of disciplinary control. Incident was sparked off by 3 lifeguards getting bashed by a group of middle eastern youths. Seems racial attacks have spread to WA where a family of middle eastern origin were holed up in their home too frightened to leave. Basically this is the education Australians recieve possibly. Because this non-tolerant behaviour has not only been exhibited in Sydney but also been iterated to me first hand by a friend of middle eastern origin. When i first arrived in Perth, she warned me about certain people in class and how she has been treated shabbily because of her race. I thought she was over-reacting initially because i never had the problems she mentioned in my first year at the centre. Well....after this episode at Sydney and all, im ashamed that i actually doubted what she told me. It seems what she has said was true all along. They are not racially bias but racially specific bias. I believe this dislike towards the middle eastern race stems from fear. This is due to the repeated ingrainment from the media after the Sept 11 attacks. The repeated viewing and hearing of all the war against the middle eastern countries - Saddem and Bin Ladin has brain-washed the minds of the masses in Australia. A middle eastern face now invokes war/ strive and evil. It has become a natural bias perception of the people of a middle eastern background. Say no if you must. Challenge me. I can set up a few tests and we can experiment to prove my theory of Aussies' specific racial bias against middle eastern ppl. I'm gonna win hands down, thats how confident i am.
