A balance

I thought Zen=balance but merriam-webster states Zen as 'Japanese, religious meditation'. Sheesh*.... have i been using the word incorrectly all these years?! Fine....i shall create a new word: Zenish= balance. There was this cyclone Larry in Queensland that caused widespread devastation. Everyone in Australia heard the Queenlanders cry for aid- citizens and government poured into Queensland donations in the form of food, water, clothing, essential supplies and of course money. Now Queenlanders have called out again, "Keep the moola coming BUT stop the supplies! You are bringing the economy of Queensland down!" The thing is that the donations pouring in have been so overwhelming to the extent that citizens have no need to vist the shops to purchase anything. The shopkeepers are complaining that this is affecting businesses and in turn the economy of the state. Reminds me of the Israelites that Moses brought out of egypt - this complain, that complain. However there IS a basis for the Queenlanders' complaint that the Howard government did not forsee(?). Everything in life needs a balance. In this case, even goodwill contributions need to be zenish. How about third world countries that keep on receiving aid? Have we made them too reliant on the other parts of the world for the basics? When is enough helping actually enough? Is too much help harming them?

On a lighter note, i went to the Hangout.

An indoor rockclimbing facility. OMG! Something in Perth that is actually opened til 10pm on a weekday night!! And And ...i was randomly stopped for a breathlyser test - how fun! I had to keep blowing through this tube until the light flashed. Ermmm.... i think this device is not designed for petite lungs... i fell short of breath just as the light finally flashed!! I complained to the officer and he just smiled :) Amused at my seeming agitation. And and .... this car was stopped along Mts bay road most probably coz it was caught speeding. The cops seemed to be going all out tonight and it is just a weekday!
