Lab

Where i spend a third of my time- my department located just mins from King's Park. Went back there today - i like it when it is quiet and since it is a Sunday -yeps VERY quiet. A bit too errie at night though...brrr*...practically scaring myself sometimes. i thought i stepped on something last night but i couldnt see - should bring the torch along next time.

My fume hood. Messy? I have many chemicals i need and i mixed them all myself!! I never knew how to mix stuff but here i had to just go figure. Back in NUS, it was a bit of a flag of a hand and the lab tech would be around to FIX IT FOR ME. Here - no one hears your SOS. No lab tech! Self-service really. w/v v/w % mixtures okied. Autoclave okied. There's a few machines ive not used though coz i dont need them but i want to try it out just so that i can say i've tried them out! The lab is so !@# messy and disorganised - thankfully we are having a techky soon. We were saying once Catherine is officially the techky, in addition to her duties in the lab, she has to make Michelle a cappacino, provide me a cookie jar and give us both a massage. Heehehe...slave drivers eh?

Second pic is my self declared lab space flanked by the TE tank and autoclave (not seen). Pissed - i just realized i could have put a tab on the uni acct as well - darnz! i paid for it instead. Luckily <$30. I just didnt know how things CAN be get done. Now i know.

Third pic - my office space where i can take my shoes off, eat, drink and hopefully take a nap soon- think i might convert a part of it if i had the time and throw in an old couch. Too bad i sold the old armchair i had previously. The place actually looks better in the pic than in reality!! i would like to jazz it up if i had time. Throwing in a foldable bed/couch is topmost on the revamp list. Zzzzz!
