Perth Arts Festival
Went for the closing of the arts festival in the city yesterday. Just crashed on the mat armed with my cam together with this couple that (i reckon) i've been spending close to every weekend with!! In case of copyright infringement, i have to state part of the photos here are taken by me and another part by a professional photographer which i've stunned off the web.
The performance kicked off with the heliosphere where she basically floats gracefully above the audience and does acrobatic spins.
The best part of the evening was the Taiko drummers! Wikipedia states that Taiko simply means 'great drum' in Japanese. Ensemble Taiko drumming is specifically known as kumi-daiko. It is just amazing how the Japanese drummers can keep up this intensive drumming for past 10mins for a single piece. If they do pause during the piece, their arms are still raised vertically up. OMG! The muscles ...the muscles!! suki desu!!
The government of Japan and Australia are having a cultural exchange this year. Hence the drummers touring the different states these few weeks. The first piece was a fusion between traditional Taiko and Aboriginal music. Sounded pretty good. 
The second piece was fantastic. Loved it. Drumming was less intense and it incorporated a vase as one of the instruments. I didnt know you can get 3 sounds out of 1 vase. Mesmerising! The most wolf whistles went to this young Taiko drummer with spiky hair. 
But i thought this other chap looked a ton better plus he had a greater physique! I think he looks just like a shinigami with those billowing drumming pants. 
Next up, pop disco fused with Aboriginal music. The DJ looks pretty cool spinning the turn table.
An Aboriginal dancer. They act out the different actions of the animals one would see in the wild according to the lyrics in the Aboriginal song .... i think- coz i didnt understand a single word that was being sung.
The trio from a comedy troupe that entertains the crowd in between each act.
i left earlier so thats all i've caught after 2hrs on the picnic mat smack in the middle of the city fending our Macker's snacks off this toddler that tries it's utmost best to land his crummy digits on our nuggets, bobbing up and down to the beat of the Taiko.
