Surreal Realism
I just dont get it! I got lost again!! It is like the third time i'm driving to Donna's place for bible study and i got lost again. Doggone it! And and... i DID refer to the map just to dbl check directions before i left. Im not a klutz-head (that i can be definite) and yet i cant get my directions right? Does this prove the theory of women Vs men in terms of driving? Unreal to the point of being surreal. Next on the list of gadgets-to-get: A GPS car system. It'll probably be screaming half the time, "Error! Error! Missed turn. U-turn required. Error! Error! This is not a U-turn filter lane!!!! Watch out!" (BzzZzzzBBZZzzzz.....sizzle and implode *BOOM*!)
So i was late for BS though i was suppose to do word and hence should be early. This is the first time im doing BS for cell (they call it caregroup back in s'pore) and OMG!! the pastor came. Surrealism. Pastor Daniel, the head pastor was driving just in front of me. SOoo we went in together to Don's house. (What is he doing here!??!) My heart was unusually calm though - thought i'll at least feel jittery sitting beside pastor Daniel and having to hold my first word session in front of him. We did Leviticus 23- Feast of the Tabernacles which splits into 3 Jewish festivals - Rosh Hashanah, Yum Kippur and Sakkot. I tried to make it as simple as possible for them to understand the significance and yet NOT skim over the details. The topic by the guest speaker this week was quite heavy and i had to cram it in 30mins! I made them do referencing back and forth from new testament to old testament to relate the significance of Jesus as the high priest. (i thought it be important but i reduced the flipping as it is bad for concentration.) Anywayz...feedback was excellent, interaction was good, there was a flow and im glad most people went away understanding it better than on Sunday. Praised by pastor Daniel! heehee :D Glory to Jesus! Easy peasy for new creationers etto ne? Especially since Pastor Prince was into Leviticus for a while and built my basics well. I really enjoy this sort of hardcore bible study - this is when i really learn stuff. Sunday candy fluff is always great but BS is power! (power = s'pore slang for Aussie's 'far-out!') Power!
Straight after, i dropped by Joni's for choc fondue with the gals from Riverview. Lotsa girly talk and more nibbling on stuff. Had this out-of-this-world tea known as orange rooibus. Yummy!
An hour later around 10ish, i told them i got to head off to the lab as my sample time is up. They went "That's late! Not safe alone, we'll go with you!" "Cool!" "i've never been to a lab!" "WOW!" "OOOhhh....exciting!" Never try to get a word in with 4 gals talking at once i'd say .... my feeble protest of ..."but....ahhhh...hey...ahhh yoohoo??" went relatively unheard and before i could recover from the shock of it all - they were packed and ready to rumble. Hello!! Democratic society where art thou? Overruled!! SOooo yesh ... ushered out of the door and into my humble Honda is 5 gals enroute to my lab in King's Park. Surrealism.
OMG!! Infiltration of my lab! Hahaa...they took some of Michelle's stickers and pasted it on their foreheads...oopsie .... i shouldnt have told them the stickers were used to label Michelle's fly samples. Pauline was quick to yank it off and throw it in the hazardous waste bin!
How can the fun be complete without a night tour around UWA campus?! It started raining whilst at the sunken garden and we found a tunnel like thing to seek shelter in ...ooohhh...hahhaa, made me feel like a little kid again, snooping around! It brought back memories for Michaela and Pauline as they were both from UWA previously. Ending the night with a bit of clowning on the performing arts open stage theatre! I adore this place - there's peacocks roaming the grounds freely, three open gallery floors, vines entwined around the pillars giving it a rustic Shakespearean feel. Work, friends, fun all encompassed in a single night. Surreal realism. Happy :)
