montreal

After arriving in Montreal, i changed accomodation. Ewwww...as always internet pictures are so deceptive, but they were nice enough to return the $$ when i requested to check out after checking in!! So move i did to Hotel Y. Thank God i moved - i needed a comfy room for what was coming next. Rain pelting as i walked, tired from travelling, it was just imminent... i fell quite ill. Very ill in fact. Spent the next few days sleeping in. I didnt see a Dr, reckon my immune system will kick in after a while. It kicked a big fuss alright the very next day. Boom! And i was pretty much out. When im awake for a couple of hours, i took short trips and walks around the city. What an enjoyable city!! Food is great, people are friendly, a good mix of old with the new, culture is alive, loads of fun and yet quiet spots of serenity can be found.

from inside a restaurant whilst waiting for my lunch

First time i had escargots - yums! with herb garlic butter...mmmm...i could eat this everyday...mmmm!! The food is really good in montreal- maybe it was just a coincidence that i seem topick the right ones?? I like it when restaurants serve freshly baked warm bread before the mains. The smell of fresh bread wafts through the air as she places the basket before me. Butter blocks were scattered under and around the warm slices of bread for easy spreading. yums. satisfaction. i waited for my main. Poached salmon - little twirls of steam as i forked my fish, the first bite melted in my mouth, the subtle sauce that was drizzled around the plate complimented the salmon to a T, the sauce did not mask the fish but it further enhanced the flavour, portions of fish crumbled with each bite. Heavenly...mmmm. It came with a small little cube of nicely spiced rice and a little portion of cooked zucchini. I dont fancy zucchini but i ate this lot. It was a good sized portion of fish - i was stuffed! pleasantly stuffed. Service was excellent. Food was ohhh...brilliant! according to my taste. For the price, the food was amazing. I felt quite pampered. thank you. Bigger tip was a must. My dialect roots started to show when i was ill - i ate half a roast duck. HALF! Actually in total for the entire trip i ate 3/4 of a roast duck. i think roast duck was my comfort food when ill.

pics from inside biodome - this place where 4 different climatic conditions exist under a single dome. Passing from one zone to the next is like entering into different regions of the world.

Street pics whilst getting lost. Too bad just for laughs has no shows on then.

cobbled streets and art galleries galore. paintings are everywhere and i mean everywhere.

basilica notre-dame. basilica is a term used to describe a church with historical or achitectural significance. notre-dame pays tribute to the lady Mary. Mary's colour is blue hence the church floors are blue. celine dion was married here!

montreal has an underground maze of tunnels that connects to the metro and streets up above. you just gotta know where to go. otherwise, it is a good place for hide and seek.
