Esther Foundation
Last night was at an Esther concert raising funds for the foundation. It was a concert with performances from the Esther gals, testimonials and guest performers! The foundation is a place where gals go to for recovery from "problems" - like drug adduction, self-harm, etc. They currently have 30+gals undergoing the program. I have not seen the before and after effects of the program - but if this is anything to go by - the after is FAB! They looked energized, full-of-zest and ready to LIVE. It is a bit of a safe haven for the women to regain their self-worth and know that they are much loved. I know it is a bit of a cliche - but i believe love heals much, builds much and restores much.
Come to think of it, i havent being doing any charitable work since last year. Busy or just lazy? Maybe i should head back to the children's hospital and play with the sick kids. It was fun playing nintendo stuff with them - this was in 04! Coz i was so bad at it, they had a good time teaching me!! i know im bad at gaming crap. Think once friend's bro set the game such that i could only be killed by knifepoint ............. and i still died. Damn funny, i REALLY duck when playing shooting games. Woohoo but i know i trashed someone at basketball hoops in arcade last month ...hehhee....didnt know i could shoot em' hoops eh? Think i was kinda strung out so was at arcade with a couple of people after dinner together, of yeah it was end of May coz we were using the entertainment booklet 05. It was fun :)
I wish Singapore dollar was HUGE-ASS - like the Yen or something. Singapore's paypacket can be quite low. There is always the arguement that the Aussie tax rates are way higher but i think after calculation minus tax cut - the pay is still relatively higher. I should recalculate again, i might have miscalculated the starting income. Was talking to a hair dresser think few months back - she's like earning like never before here in Australia with more free time on her hands as well. By the way ass= (ass the butt) ARSE in Australia. Say arse when in OZ land. ass = ass the donkey here in Australia. And i was reminded ketchup is American, im to say TOMATO SAUCE. One more thing i talk too fast - slow pokes cant catch a word of what im talking. My words just run over their head. Everything is slower here - even talking ...so speak slowly.
i just bought a thermos flask from ikea! yipeee....now i dont have to constantly walk up and down to the kitchen for refills for my tea! I had swedish meatballs for a snack ..yums!! havent eaten swedish meatballs since since .... hmm...7 months ago?? I was at ikea coz helping out with a PhD student from my dept whose just moved out of the student's hostel. she was having a bad time at the hostel as residential advisor coz lots problems from the students - should be expected!! So she needs furniture at her new place and she's got some kitty cash sent in from her bro. But aint got no car. Which is a booboo here in OZ land so shopaholic me offered her a lift down so i could do a bit of browsing around as well!! come on ... 60% sale!! and all i bought was a flask which was not on sale. oh shut up!
